Today is the day of the cross country race in Hwa Chong. To others, it may not mean anything to them, but to us Hwa Chong students, it is a big event as we are celebrating that the Youth Olympics will be held in Singapore this year!!!
I went to school later than before, knowing that I do need to be at school by 7:20 am. When I arrived there, a few of my schoolmates were already starting to warm-up before the race begins. My hands are all sweaty as I wanted to get at least top 10 in the non-competitive race. With a loud whistle, the race began. I took off with full speed and then gradually slower and slower as I was running up the slope. I was the 3rd in the non-competitive race while the athletes in the competitive race was far ahead of me. I started to sprint. I sprinted and sprinted all the way. Unfortunately, my stamina was beginning to run out. I was exhausted. I couldn't breathe. But I continued, knowing that the end was coming soon.
At last, I saw the ending point, I put away all my tiredness and began to sprint to the ending point. As I whizzed past the line, the teacher approached me and handed me a top 100 badge. I was extremely happy. But I couldn't speak. More good news came, our class came in 2nd among all 15 classes. I was utterly surprised with our spectacular win.
